(ANSA) - Rome, January 30 - Amanda Knox had her blonde hair cropped and died darker a day ahead of Thursday's verdict in the murder of her Perugia roommate Meredith Kercher. The American, 26, charged with the 2007 murder along with her 29-year-old Italian ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, was seen leaving a hometown Seattle salon on Wednesday with the more sober look. Prosecutors have asked for 30 years for Knox and 26 for Sollecito in a fresh appeals verdict due out Thursday evening.

The pair, who were found guilty and acquitted before the supreme court sent the trial back to the appeals stage, deny the charges.

A court officer said judges, who have been deliberating for more than 10 hours, would need "a little longer" and the verdict would come out later than expected.

She said she would be able to give media a better idea of the timeframe at 20:00 local (19:00 GMT).
