Farm worker released in therapeutic cannabis case (ANSA) - Brindisi, January 30 - A farm worker placed under house arrest for possession of cannabis was released on Thursday after a judge ruled the drug was intended for therapeutic use.

Cosimo Fonzetti, 57, from Villa Castelli near Brindisi in the southern Puglia region, provided documented evidence that the cannabis - deriving from 87 plants sequestered from his home last May - served to relieve severe pain caused by a problem with his back. He also told the preliminary investigations judge that he had since stopped using cannabis and was looking for alternative pain relief.
