Econ min says 'nothing illegal' about Fiat tax move to UK (see related) (ANSA) - Bern, January 30 - Italy's economy minister on Thursday said there was "nothing illegal" about Fiat Chrysler Automobile's decision to move its tax base to Britain. "We are convinced that they have done everything with respect to the law. Of course we will check the effects," said Fabrizio Saccomanni. Earlier Thursday the Italian inland-revenue agency said it was checking whether the move was legal. On Wednesday Turin-based Fiat consolidated its full acquisition of Detroit-based Chrysler to create the world's seventh-largest car manufacturer and announced that the new company would have registered legal headquarters in the Netherlands and its tax base in the UK, probably London.
