Berlusconi nears divorce from second wife Lario (ANSA) - Monza, January 28 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi moved close to completing his divorcing from his second wife Veronica Lario when a court in the northern city of Monza held what should have been the conclusive hearing on Tuesday, ANSA sources said.

A judge is now expected to declare the marriage officially over within 80 days. Berlusconi, 77, is engaged to Naples-born Francesca Pascale, a woman almost 50 years his junior, and he announced in 2012 that he intends to wed for the third time.

Lario left Berlusconi after he attended the 18th birthday party of an aspiring starlet and friend in Naples in 2009, accusing him of consorting with minors.

Last year Berlusconi was sentenced to seven years in prison for paying for sex with an underage prostitute and abusing his power in a bid to cover up the affair.

Berlusconi and former actress Lario married in 1990 and had three children together.

The media tycoon has two children, both executives in his business empire, from a previous marriage.

The completion of the divorce would not end a dispute over Berlusconi's alimony payments to Lario.

Last year the ex-premier managed to get her monthly alimony reduced to 1.4 million euros from a previous award of three million per month set in December 2012, but the case has not been definitively resolved.
