5-Star Movement doubles down on insult to president (see related) (ANSA) - Rome, January 28 - An MP with the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) on Tuesday doubled down on his colleague's insult, one of the worst in the Italian language, against President Giorgio Napolitano. "What should Giorgio Sorial apologize for?" said Manlio Di Stefano on Facebook. "Did it seem excessive to call King George an executioner? Well, we'll see about that". Earlier Tuesday, Sorial called Napolitano a "boia" or executioner for not intervening in a controversial government decree headed for a vote in the House, which would approve selling off 100 billion euros in gold from the central bank.

The M5S has blames the head of State for much of Italy's problems since the euro crisis and has vowed to impeach him. "An executioner is someone who kills a convict, and Napolitano is accused of killing someone or something...(in this case) democracy, the Constitution, the Italian people, and justice," added Di Stefano. "If 'executioner' seems excessive to you, find an adjective that encapsulates all of these crimes against the Italian people". (photo: Italian President Giorgio Napolitano)
