Soccer: Roma close to six from Juve (ANSA) - Rome, January 27 - AS Roma closed to within six points of Serie Leaders Juventus with a 3-1 win at Verona after the 10-man champions were held 1-1 at Lazio.

Ivory Coast forward Gervinho, a summer signing from Arsenal, scored a fine goal for the Giallorossi and set another one up as his impressive run of form continued.

Juve, aiming to land their third straight scudetto, saw goalie Gianluigi Buffon sent off for a last-man challenge on Miroslov Klose with Candreva tucking the penalty past replacement Marco Storari.

Fernando Llorente equalised with a deft header before Storari pulled off a wonder save to deny Lazio the points. Juve's winning streak ended at 12 to stop them approaching Inter Milan's record of 17 in 2007.

Juve have 56 points from 21 games and Roma 50.

Napoli, held 1-1 by Chievo Verona at the San Paolo, are third on 44 and Fiorentina fourth on 41 after a 3-3 home draw with Genoa.
