Pillar of medical reporting at ANSA dies at 58 (ANSA) - Rome, January 27 - Veteran ANSA journalist Francesco Marabotto, 58, died during the night between Sunday and Monday.

Marabotto was among Italy's leading journalists on health and medicine, and won a silver medal from the Italian president for his health contributions through reporting.

The journalist left his post as head of ANSA's specialized news just months ago. Among other distinctions, Marabotto covered the discovery of AIDS in the 1980s and related medical developments while continuing his vigilance over daily news.
