Foreign national killed in fire at Rome residence (ANSA) - Rome, January 24 - A person believed to be a foreign national died on Friday at a residence mainly used by migrants in the Rome district of Monte Mario.

Three people were injured in the blaze, two of whom are in a serious condition.

The person renting the flat in which a dead body was found was Romanian, ANSA sources said.

The fire may have been caused by the explosion of a gas cannister in one of the residence's small flats.

Two people were killed at a fire caused by a gas cannister at the same residence in 2001. One of the people seriously hurt is a 40-year-old police officer who took part in the emergency services' response.
