Milan prosecutors claim Riva and two others illegally siphoned public subsidies for exports through Riva FIRE, which is the parent company of the troubled steel manufacturer ILVA. Police also seized 100 million euros from Riva FIRE.
A formal request was also initiated asking the extradition to Italy of Fabio Riva, who is living in London.
A European arrest order was issued on Wednesday for the former ILVA executive and ex-deputy chairman of Riva FIRE.
