Hollande 'lover' won't be on jury of French academy in Rome (ANSA) - Paris, January 15 - The French culture ministry on Wednesday announced it has decided not to appoint the alleged lover of the president, actress Julie Gayet, as a member of the jury of Villa Medici, France's prestigious cultural institute in Rome. The news of the appointment had first been reported on Tuesday after the actress's name had appeared on the institute's website. Her nomination had reportedly been decided 'before Christmas' at the proposal of the director of Villa Medici, Eric de Chassey. The institute's website, which mentioned Gayet on Tuesday, did not cite the date of her nomination. After the nomination was announced by Villa Medici and reported Tuesday by the media, the culture ministry said Wednesday morning that Culture Minister Aurélie Filippetti has decided not to appoint Gayet.

"The nomination had not been signed," said the minister's office.
