Over 200,000 Italians risk losing jobs, says union (ANSA) - Rome, January 15 - Over 200,000 people are in serious danger of joining the growing ranks of the unemployed in Italy, the CISL trade union warned on Wednesday.

CISL said it calculated that in 2013 some 208,000 people claiming a special benefit for temporarily laid-off workers, cassa straordinaria e in deroga, risked being made permanently unemployed in the near future.

National statistics agency Istat said last week that unemployment reached a record high of 12.7% in November with 41.6% of under-25s out of work.
