Free health screening for residents in high-pollution areas (ANSA) - Rome, January 13 - The government approved a free health screening program for residents of heavily polluted areas in the southern Italian regions of Campania and Puglia, Environment Minister Andrea Orlando said Monday.

The program is part of an amendment to a decree on environmental and industrial emergencies. "It is based on an organic approach that combines environment and health, the quality of land and water with the health of citizens," Orlando told reporters.
