Gay activist killed by drug addict after fling (ANSA) - Rome, January 9 - Rome police said Thursday that a gay activist found dead along the banks of the Tiber river was killed by a drug addict likely after a sexual fling. The body of Daniele Fulli, a 27-year-old hairdresser, was found earlier in the week with injuries to the groin and the back of his neck. Police said Andrea Troisio, 32, confessed to stabbing him to death with an awl shortly after his arrest. The mother of the victim alerted police to the alleged killer, who knew her son only briefly, they said. Members of the gay community had been concerned that Fulli, who had disappeared last week, may have been the victim of a hate crime.

Tulli was active in The Gay Center and Gay Street associations in Rome, who were organizing a memorial march for him on Saturday.
