Former Sicily governor, son to be tried for vote buying (ANSA) - Catania, January 7 - Former Sicily Governor Raffaele Lombardo and his son Salvatore are being indicted for election fraud, prosecutors in Catania announced Monday. The pair were placed under investigation this summer on suspicion of promising jobs for votes in the 2012 regional elections.

Lombardo was among several governors to step down amid slush-fund scandals in 2012.

Hearings will begin in May.
