Napolitano takes jab at Grillo in year-end address (see previous) (ANSA) - Rome, December 31 - Italian President Giorgio Napolitano took a jab at anti-government critics in his year-end address Tuesday, vowing not to bow to "insults and threats". "I'm careful to consider any objective and respectful criticisms or reservations about my work, but I will not be influenced by slanderous campaigns, insults and threats," he said.

Comedian-turned-politician Beppe Grillo, leader of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), has vowed to press for Napolitano's impeachment in 2014 for alleged illegitimacy as the head of State. There has also been some speculation that ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's center-right Forza Italia, which last month pulled its support from Letta's executive, could vote in favour of Napolitano's impeachment.
