'Tough battle' says Schumacher doctor
'Little bit more optimistic'31 December, 11:58
(ANSA) - Grenoble, December 31 - Michael Schumacher's doctor said Tuesday the fight to save the Formula One great's life after a skiing accident was tough but he was more optimistic.
"The battle remains difficult, although now there is a little bit more optimism," Gerard Saillant told a press conference in a Grenoble hospital after the seven-time F1 champ had a second brain operation.
"For now it is impossible to make predictions about the clinical future of Michael Schumacher, it's stupid even to talk about it," said Saillant, who is also a friend of F1's most successful driver.
Schumacher, who turns 45 on Friday, had a part of his skull removed Sunday to ease pressure on his brain and another operation Monday night to remove a large haematoma on the left side of his brain, doctors said.
