(ANSA) - Aosta, December 27 - An Italian skier died after falling off-piste near Chamois in the Val d'Aosta Alps on Italy's border with France Friday.

Alessandro Bruno, 48, from Genoa, was skiing with his daughter when he went into a back-flip on a hump and landed heavily on his spine and neck.

Bruno's death brought to six the toll of lives in the French, Italian and Swiss Alps since Christmas.

Two skiers were saved after a wall of snow fell on them in Piedmont.

Chamois is the highest village in Val d'Aosta and one of the highest in Italy.

Bruno was well-known in the small town.

He had been coming there for years with his family.
