Blackout continues in Cortina (ANSA) - Cortina, December 27 - A blackout that started Thursday after a wave of heavy snow and high winds hit the famous Italian resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo and other towns in the Veneto Dolomites continued on Friday.

The inhabitants of Cortina, which hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics, have managed to get by without too much inconvenience thanks to an number of emergency power generators.

But the situation for around 56,000 people in 29 other towns in the area is more complicated, as technicians work frantically to restore electricity supplies in difficult conditions.
