Italian finance police seize 3.5 tonnes of expired food (ANSA) - Rome, December 23 - Italian finance police in the central Italian town of Frosinone said Monday they seized 3.5 tonnes of food that was past its sell-by date.

Police said some of the food was rotting and was found in a wholesale cash-and-carry outlet. The items that were confiscated included fresh pasta, fish, ham, salami, flour, and tinned fruits.

The 35-year-old owner of the store is under investigation.
