Coldiretti says sparkling wine up 16%, panettone grows 14%

Italian Christmas food and wine exports hit new record (ANSA) - Rome, December 23 - Exports of Italian Christmas food and beverages climbed to new record of 2.7 billion euros, Italian farmers' association Coldiretti said on Monday.

Exports in December are forecast to grow by 16% for Italian sparkling wine, 14% for panettone Christmas cake, 8% for all Italian wines, 5% for salami, 4% for pasta and 3% for cheese. The US, Russia, and the UK drove Italian sparkling wine exports. Sales in US - the top export market for Italian sparkling wines - are expected to rise 24% in December compared to the same month last year. Sales set to rise 31% and 50% over the same period in Russia and the UK, respectively.
