Soccer: Barbara Berlusconi promoted, shares top AC Milan job
Galliani to stay in charge of transfer dealings19 December, 18:47
Barbara Berlusconi, 29, will become the seven-time European champions' managing director in charge of business and administrative matters.
Adriano Galliani, Silvio Berlusconi's long-standing right-hand man in soccer, keeps the title of managing director and will remain in charge of the club's sporting affairs and transfer dealings.
There had been reports Galliani was set to leave the club to make way for Barbara Berlusconi at the helm after she recently said the club needed to take a new direction following a poor start to the Serie A season.
Milan are currently 10th in Serie A, trailing leaders Juventus by 24 points after 16 games, although they are also the only Italia side to have reached the last 16 of the Champions League. Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi said earlier on Thursday that he was going to start taking care of Milan's affairs "in first person" once again to help revive the team's fortunes.
