Letta says Expo will make Milan 'capital of Europe'

Letta also noted that in the second half of 2014, Italy will hold the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union (EU), further heightening the country's profile within Europe.
"(Expo) will be a landmark event for us and will make Milan the capital of Europe, because it will be a European Expo," Letta said at a joint news conference with European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.
Approximately 140 nations and entities have formally agreed to participate in Milan Expo 2015, which will focus on food security and sustainability under the theme 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'.
Millions of visitors and participants are expected during the world's fair that will run from May through October of 2015.
The EC is the executive body of the EU.
