50 million euros in Mafia assets seized

50 million euros in Mafia assets seized (ANSA) - Trapani, December 9 - Italian police on Monday seized 50 million euros in assets from a well-known Sicilian construction and hotel businessman accused of links to two Mafia bosses in the western Sicilian city of Trapani.

Giuseppe Amodeo has a 1998 arrest on his record, police said.

Trapani is the home of fugitive Cosa Nostra No.1 Matteo Messina Denaro.

A string of recent assets seizures, notably from wind-farm entrepreneurs, is helping close the noose around Messina Denaro, Italian investigators believe.
