'Enough delays' says Florence mayor ahead of primaries

Renzi accuses Letta of inaction (ANSA) - Rome, December 6 - Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi, expected to take over the center-left Democratic Party (PD) in upcoming elections, called out Premier Enrico Letta for alleged inaction on Friday.

"The Letta government has appeared strong on the international level, which has struck me. But I'm disappointed that it's delaying things. Some things need to be taken care of immediately," said Renzi. As PD primaries on Sunday approach, the charismatic 38-year-old has upped criticism of Letta, also in the PD, for not moving more quickly to improve employment opportunities and to reform the country's contentious election law, which produced the current left-right coalition after a two-month parliamentary logjam. Two polls on Friday said Renzi is highly favored to take the helm of the Democratic Party (PD), Italy's biggest party.
