Number of public employees shrinks by 130,000 in 2012

(ANSA) - Rome, December 5 - Low turnover combined with a large number of retiring workers meant Italy's total number of public employees sank 4% in 2012, Italy's social security
agency (INPS) revealed in its social report on Thursday.
The ranks of public employees has diminished by 130,000 people, passing from 3.23 million to 3.1 million. Social-security contributions for the sector fell by 4.78 billion, or 8.2%.
