Rome Film Fest to honor Fellini with new documentary (ANSA) - Rome, November 6 - When beloved cinema master Federico Fellini died 20 years ago in Rome, an estimated 100,000 people showed up to pay their respects.

This year, the 8th Rome Film Festival taking place from November 8-17 will honor him with the world premiere of a documentary set during the three days between his death and his State funeral.

Directed by veteran 53-year-old documentary filmmaker Antonello Sarno, 'Federico degli spiriti - L'ultimo Fellini' (Federico of the Spirits - The Last Fellini) is an homage to the late master told through the recollections of Fellini's friends and colleagues.

Besides numerous awards at Cannes and Venice, Fellini won four Oscars for best foreign-language film: 'La Strada' in 1956, 'The Nights of Cabiria' in 1957, '8 1/2' in 1963 and 'Amarcord' in 1974.

He received an honorary Oscar in recognition of his cinematic accomplishments as a director and screenwriter in 1993, just months before his death of cardiac arrest at the age of 73.

Federico of the Spirits - The Last Fellini screens on November 9.
