Offers farm expertise to world-food-themed event01 November, 13:42
Within the 4,133-square-meter space at its disposal, Brazil will illustrate the technological efficiency Brazilian agriculture can count on, as well as the ability to blend foreign products and local ingredients as regards food preparation, Borges said.
Brazil, he said, will also "commit itself to spread the expertise and know-how developed in the domains of sustainable development and consumption, highlighting, through concerts, seminars, product tasting events and other cultural and entertainment initiatives, the importance of food as a social, political, economic and scientific unique integration tool". Brazil's Theme Statement is: "Brazil: feeding the world with solutions." The upcoming economic power will be following "two major criteria", Borges said, at pavilion: "innovation, to propose real and virtual visitors a never-seen-before themed and sensorial path, and sustainability, regarding the construction of the facility and its natural integration into the surrounding environment".
Brazil, a contender to host the 2020 Universal Exposition in São Paulo, may also give an important contribution to the development of the themes at the core of the Clusters dedicated to "Fruits and Legumes", "Coffee", "Rice" and "Cocoa", being among the biggest world's producers and exporters of such foods.
Borges said: "Expo Milano 2015 will be an important opportunity for Brazil to strengthen its role as a global producer of food products capable of fulfilling the needs of a myriad of different markets. "Besides, we will also show that Brazilian agriculture employs top-level technology to boost productivity, still preserving the natural richness which is of vital importance for the planet." Milano 2015 chief Giuseppe Sala said: "We express our satisfaction as regards the project that Brazil will carry out for the Universal Exposition. "It will be a high-level participation, focused on the respect for the environment and on technological innovation to spread knowledge and build together a significant range of solutions aimed at guaranteeing access to food to the largest possible number of people. "In choosing the Theme Statement, the country has demonstrated great openness and a global outlook. "It is not by chance that Brazil occupies a key position within the socio-political and economical global geography: in the next years, also on account of its hosting the football World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016, the country will earn for itself a showcase of increasingly broader scope".
