(ANSA) - Bologna, October 23 - Senior advisers from several
political parties are under investigation for possible
embezzlement of public funds in the Emilia Romagna region, with
expense claims including receipts from pay toilets being
scrutinized, officials said Wednesday.
The parties involved, with representatives in the regional
parliament, include the Democratic Party (PD), the
anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S), Silvio Berlusconi's
People of Freedom (PdL) party, the Northern League, the Left
Ecology Freedom party (Sel), the centrist UCD and the centrist
Italy of Values (IdV) party.
As many as 40,000 documents are being scrutinized by
investigators in the region as part of the investigation into
alleged misuse of party funds that began last fall.
