Letta says Italy must guard against anti-Semitism
Prime minister meets with last Roman survivors of Holocaust14 October, 17:55
Following meetings with some of the last survivors of Rome's Jewish community who were deported to death camps in October 1943, Letta said that Italy must never forget the Holocaust.
"Never lower your guard on anti-Semitism," Letta said he was told by the survivors during ceremonies commemorating the 70th anniversary of the deportation.
He tweeted that message on his Twitter feed after his meeting with Lello Di Segni and Enzo Camerino.
More than 1,000 Roman Jews were deported to Nazi death camps in 1943, and only a handful returned.
