Italy's opera houses 'risk closing over cuts'
Association sounds alarm about upcoming budget law14 October, 16:03
"If there is no (funding)....there will be no future for Italian productions," said Walter Vergnano, the head of the Anfois association of opera and symphony foundations.
Even performance companies that have managed to turn in a balanced budget are at risk, added Vergnano, who is also superintendent of the Teatro Regio in Turin.
Funding increases are "essential", he said.
