(ANSA) – Turin, October 7 - Italian business heiress
Jonella Ligresti, arrested in July in relation to a probe into
alleged fraud at Italian insurance company Fonsai, was refused
house arrest Monday after having spent almost three months in
Ligresti and former Fonsai manager Emauele Erbetta, whose
house-arrest request was also turned down, are amongst a group
of people currently being investigated to determine whether
false accounting and market manipulation practices took place at
the insurance company.
The Ligresti family are the former majority owners of the
Fonsai and Milano Assicurazioni insurance companies.
Salvatore Ligresti, the family patriarch and former
honorary chairman of Fonsai, was put under house arrest in July
along with two former executives from the insurance company.
Jonella Ligresti's sister Giulia Maria, also arrested in
July, was released from jail in September after bargaining a
