Probe into death of pregnant woman in Italian hospital

The probe could lead to charges of manslaughter and culpable abortion, pending the results of an autopsy next week.
The woman, who was 21 weeks pregnant, showed up at the obstetrics emergency room last night with severe abdominal pain.
Doctors tried unsuccessfully to induce birth. The fetus died, and the woman went into cardiac arrest after doctors performed an emergency caesarean.
The woman had had an ultrasound earlier this week, which showed the fetus was significantly deformed, the hospital said.
