Three indicted over 2009 G8 summit contracts

All were linked with alleged corruption in contracts related to construction and site preparation for major events in Italy, including the G8 The trial was set to start January 20.
The investigation initially began in Florence in 2010, and after a transfer to Perugia the probe was ultimately assigned to Rome prosecutors.
Earlier this year, police seized 12 million euros in assets, including homes, cars, motorcycles, as well as bank accounts and investments belonging to Balducci and his family.
Charges stem from misuse of funds for the G8 summit as well as other events including those related to the 150th anniversary celebration of the unification of Italy.
