Confidence vote needed says PD head
'Letta must clear things up for good'27 September, 11:28
"Premier (Enrico Letta) must clear things up once and for all in parliament," interim leader Epifani said.
FI claims Letta's PD is breaching the Italian Constitution in insisting on enforcing the ban according to an anti-corruption law the parties voted for last year. Senior FI figures indicated Friday they would vote confidence in Letta while continuing to press for Berlusconi to keep his seat.
But others said the unprecedented left-right emergency reform government was "finished".
Letta will ask President Giorgio Napolitano for guidance later Friday.
