Renewed threats against Jewish leader in Rome
Probe opened into neo-Fascist organization's hate mail25 September, 19:01
The latest threats against Riccardo Pacifici come from a neo-Fascist body known as Militia Roma, which called on its members to send hate mail to Pacifici.
The investigation will be coordinated by the same prosecutor who has been probing an Italian branch of an anti-Semitic organization known as "Stormfront".
It has been operating in various parts of Italy, and four men associated with the neo-Nazi group were convicted in April of inciting hatred based on race with their website.
The four, aged 23 to 42 and from various towns across Italy, were sentenced to terms ranging from 30 months to three years for "promoting and directing a group whose purpose was the instigation to ethnic, religious and racial discrimination and violence".
A Rome judge found the four guilty of targeting "Jews and immigrants, advocating the supremacy of the white race and instigating racism and Holocaust-denial".
In December 2011 Rome prosecutors launched a probe into Stormfront's blacklisting of religious figures, politicians, journalists and judges.
