Cat poisonings continue on Capri
Animal protection group demands investigations of deaths25 September, 17:05
Three kittens, part of a permanent cat colony in the historic district of Sant'Anna, were killed in only two days, adding to the numbers of cat deaths reported in the area of the famous island located south of Naples.
The situation has aroused outrage among summer visitors as well as residents.
The most recent cases occurred at the same time as the "Festa del Bastardino" or feast of the mongrels, which many communities celebrate with pets.
Last month, after several cat poisonings on Capri, posters appeared on the streets saying, "Shame on you...We hope you're next, suffering the same agony".
Animal-rights activist group I Migliori Amici (The Best Friends) have filed a formal complaint to authorities.
