Slump in Italian housing market slows

The Agenzia delle Entrate said there were 242,817 property sales in the April-June period, 7.7% down on the same three months in 2012.
Sales were down 13.8% in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the first three months of 2012. The agency said the average price of a property was 167,000 euros in the first six months of this year, down 2,400 euros, or 1.4%, on the first half of 2012. It said homes in Rome were Italy's most expensive, with properties in the capital going for 298,200 euros on average in the first half of 2013, with an average value per square metre of 3,276 euros.
Next was Milan, with the average property costing 246,500 euros - 2,972 euros per square metre.
