The station's style was created by Catalan designer Oscar Tusquets Blanca, using colours different colours - black representing the earth, golden-brown for the rock of the area, and blue representing the sea water in the bay where the city is located.
Two escalators that ferry metro passengers up and down from the new entrance are decorated with prints from photographer Oliviero Toscani, shot in various parts of Naples, while ceramic mosaics by William Kentridge and Francesco Clemente also decorate the area.
The entire Dante-Garibaldi metro line cost more than 1.3 billion euros, with some funding coming from the European Union.
