France signs participation contract for Expo 2015
France to have one of the largest pavilions at Milan Expo13 September, 19:33
The contract was signed by Stefano Gatti, the international affairs director of Expo 2015, and by Alain Berger, France's commissioner-general for Expo.
"We will be neighbours and competitors," said Gatti. France is expected to invest 20 million euros to participate in Expo 2015 and its pavilion will be spread out across about 3,600 square metres.
Promoting smart and sustainable energy, including the recycling of waste and wastewater management, will be key themes of the French pavilion.
The Milan Expo, which runs May 1 until October 31 2015, is expected to attract more than 20 million visitors and become a massive money spinner for the city known as Italy's business capital.
Preparations on a 1.1-million-square-meter site have been underway for years.
