Vatican to work with Dominican Republic on nuncio accusation (ANSA) - Vatican City, September 12 - The Vatican City is available to collaborate with the authorities of the Dominican Republic in relation to the accusations of sexual misconduct with minors that its former diplomatic envoy, Mons. Josef Wesolowski, is currently facing in the Central American nation, according to Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi. Wesolowski was called back to the Vatican City a few weeks ago after the archbishop of Santo Domingo, Cardinal Nicolas Lopez Rodriguez, informed Pope Francis of the accusations.

As a result, the envoy was recalled back to the Vatican in August and an internal investigation into the accusations was initiated, handled by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Vatican Secretary of State had informed the ambassador of the Dominican Republic at the Holy See that the nation-state was available to collaborate with the Dominican authorities should they be required to, Lombardi said.
