More racist slurs against minister Kyenge
Mayor of village near Florence files complaint03 September, 19:45
The offensive remarks against Cecile Kyenge, minister of Integration, and the Democratic Party (PD) to which she belongs, were discovered in the village of San Piero a Sieve.
The remarks, including "Nigger, leave government," led Mayor Marco Semplici to file a complaint.
The remarks "are a very serious occurrence" for the community, he said.
Other officials with the PD in the area said the remarks did not represent area residents.
Since her cabinet appointment in April, Kyenge has faced a steady barrage of racist slurs and attacks from politicians in the anti-immigrant Northern League as well as anonymous graffiti campaigns.
