Calabrian man arrested after violating restraining order
New 'femicide' law applied29 August, 15:12
The laborer in the southern Italian town of Scalea, in Calabria, approached his ex-wife's home, rang the doorbell and asked to speak to her.
A local magistrate substituted the restraining order with house-arrest following a new 'femicide' decree which went into effect in mid-August.
The 12-point decree sets harsher penalties for those found guilty of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking, and also offers greater victim protection.
