Berlusconi's legal woes not a threat to govt, says Letta

"I am not afraid that there will be an influence on the life of the government...due to the convictions or legal proceedings (of Berlusconi)," Letta said in an interview on Radio Anch'io.
"Italians need a government that provides answers and solidity," he said.
The Senate is scheduled to decide on September 9 whether to ratify stripping Berlusconi of his Senate seat for a tax-fraud conviction earlier this month.
An anti-corruption law that includes the provision against convicted criminals continuing in politics was introduced last December under former Justice Minister Paola Severino but only recently took effect.
