Berlusconi takes fight to Constitutional Court
Lawyers say stripping Berlusconi of Senate seat unconstitutional28 August, 16:59
They are arguing that the law, which would allow senators to vote to strip the ex-premier of his seat following Berlusconi's conviction for tax fraud, is unconstitutional.
Their appeal came the same day they took his fight to the European Court of Human Rights and to an appeals body of the Senate.
They say the ban - contained in a new anti-corruption law that was introduced last December under former Justice Minister Paola Severino – took effect only after his August 1 conviction.
