Milan bourse falls along with European markets
Decline led by MPS and Finmeccanica20 August, 20:16
The FTSE-Mib index declined 1.41% to 16,999 points, with only Madrid's Ibex index tumbling lower, down 1.8% to 8,502.
Paris' Cac 40 Index lost 1.35% to 4,028. Frankfurt's Dax bourse fared slightly better at -0.8% to 8,300 along with London's FTSE-100 which fell 0.2% to 6,453 points.
Declines were led by banking and insurance stocks with MPS losing 4.39%, Mediolanum 4.26%, Mediobanca 3.17%, Carige 4.66%, Unipol 4.49% and Fonsai 3%. Finmeccanica tumbled 5.22% after Russia halted an order of 35 helicopters.
The yield spread between 10-year Italian bonds and the German benchmark equivalent, a barometer of Italy's borrowing costs in the eurozone crisis, closed at 262 points with 10-year yields at 4.47%.
