Government to revoke IMU tax on first homes, minister says
Zanonato says solution needs to be found19 August, 15:20
Letta, of the center-left Democratic Party (PD), heads the coalition government that was formed after February's inconclusive general elections. Rolling back IMU, which was introduced by the previous government of Mario Monti, was a campaign promise of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi, whose center-right People of Freedom (PdL) roared to second in elections to become the junior partner in the current cabinet. The PdL has threatened to pull its support from the government if their position is not upheld.
