Tate international curator to head Venice Biennale jury (ANSA) - Venice, May 13 - The Venice Art Biennale on Friday named the Tate museum's international curator Jessica Morgan to lead its jury this year. Morgan joins 54 other judges who will hand out the Golden and Silver Lion awards at the 55th festival June 1-November 24. The judges include Coleccion Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) curator Sofia Hernandez Chong Cuy from Mexico, the Italian director of Tate Liverpool Francesco Manacorda, Centre for Contemporary Art founder Bisi Silva from Nigeria and Hammer curator Ali Subotnick from the U.S.

Founded in 1895, the Biennale showcases contemporary art in national pavilions every two years and is considered among the most important art festivals in the world. This year's title is The Encyclopedic Palace and is curated by Massimiliano Gioni, associate director and director of exhibitions at the New Museum in New York.
