Soccer: Sion sack Gattuso

Appointed player-manager in February

(ANSA) - Bern, May 13 - Former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso was sacked as player-manager by Swiss club Sion Monday after a poor run culminated in a 5-0 defeat to San Gallo Saturday.

Gattuso, 35, was appointed coach in February. Sion Chairman Christian Constantin has brought in eight youth team players until the end of the season, replacing Gattuso and seven other regulars after the club racked up 10 points in 11 games and were knocked out of the Swiss Cup.
