Fourth victim from Portici balcony collapse dies (ANSA) - Naples, May 13 - Doctors in Naples' Loreto Mare hospital said on Monday that a fourth victim from a May 5 balcony collapse in the nearby town of Portici, 65-year-old Michele Fiengo, is dead after a week in intensive care.

Three people died on the scene and another eight remain injured from the accident when the stone balcony of an 18th-century building collapsed during the Saint Cyrus procession in the town south of Naples.

All of the victims were standing in the street under the balcony when it gave way during a celebration of the town's patron saint.

The festivity centres on a religious procession with a statue of the saint, and attracts thousands along the town's procession route on the first Sunday of May.

Two of those killed were cousins of the local centre-left candidate for mayor Giovanni Iacone, who announced the immediate suspension of his electoral campaign in respect for his relatives, Maria Vela, 67, and Aniello Scognamiglio, 65.

Concetta Evangelista, 65, also died in the accident.
