Berlusconi sex trial sentence expected June 24

(ANSA) - Milan, May 13 - A sentence is expected June 24 in ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's sex trial in Milan, judicial sources said Monday. A prosecutor has requested six years and a life ban from office for Berlusconi's allegedly having sex with a minor known as Ruby and abuse of office for allegedly getting her out of a police station where she was held on an unrelated theft claim.

The defence will start arguing its case on June 3. Berlusconi and Runy deny sex.

The prosecutor said there was "no doubt" they did, and that she was a prostitute.

If convicted Berlusconi will have two appeals, and will formally be considered innocent until the supreme Court of Cassation upholds any guilty verdict.
